Everything But the Kitchen Sink Challenge

Here's my entry for Everything but the Kitchen Sink's sketch challenge. I guess I do better with sketch challenges than color challenges. I am a new fan of Papertrey Ink, and as of right now, I own lots of cardstock and buttons but very few ribbons and no inks yet. I had to do some improvising. Stampin' Up's soft sky is similar to Papertrey's aqua mist. After making that ginormous house card, I knew I wanted something small. A 3 x 6 card. Checkbook size. First I made the soft sky card. Then I trimmed Papertrey's vintage cream to 2 3/4 x 5 3/4. Anyone who knows my stamping history well, I detest wheel stamps. Detest them because I never get them straight and muck them up any way I know how. Well, TA DA! Stampin' Up's Friendly Words wheel in SU! Creamy Caramel was amazing for me - the first time! I really wanted it to be a focal point since I did so well at getting it straight! I followed up with PTI's Blooming Button Bits, and three aqua mist buttons from PTI's Holiday Vintage Button Mix. Using this type of thread has been tricky for me (even after following Dawn McVey's blog tips), so I have found a floss threader is the easiest way for me to get these buttons threaded. I used SU! scallop border edge to make a kraft scallop border to complete the sketch. Supplies: SU! Soft Sky cardstock (retired color); Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream cardstock; SU! Friendly Words Wheel; Papertrey Ink Blooming Button Bits; SU! Soft Sky ink and creamy caramel ink; Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist buttons, twine (unknown); Making Memories silver brads, SU! scallop border edge punch, SU! mat pack for paper piercing

Embellish Magazine Challenge

My friend Stephanie and I made blogs so we could participate in stamping challenges, and soon after, I lost almost all stamping mojo! I know it's bad when I participate in a challenge, don't take a picture, and the challenge ends before I get to upload my submission! Here is an attempt at getting it back again! Here's my first challenge, by Embellish Magazine. Our challenge was to use fabric, and the colors of Papertrey's pure poppy, enchanted evening, new leaf, and kraft. Thankfully I happened to have some fabric from my applique days. That's what I did here. I appliqued everything on to kraft cardstock, but wanted more green and blue, so put the background cardstock for the card. This card measures very big - 6 1/2 x 5 inches! Supplies: Mary Engelbreit house chipboard (used as a stencil); white, new leaf, and enchanted evening cardstock (PTI), Welcome from So Many Sayings (SU!), scalloped oval punch (SU!), medium oval punch (SU!), pure poppy buttons (PTI), fabric (Jo-Ann); rick-rack ribbon, unknown, floss no. 319 and floss no. 498

Pardon me as I brush the dust off of my blog...

I've had some stamping time, so I got two challenges completed and photographed just in time!
